Authorities have sealed a six- storey building and evacuated it resident after the building tilted in Banpukur area of Savar, on the outskirts of capital Dhaka, on Tuesday.
Savar municipality Mayor Hazi Abdul Gani confirmed the matter to the Bangladesh Post.
He said a local reported the incident around 12:00pm on Tuesday after the building tilted. Later the mayor, upazila nirbahi officer and other officials visited the spot.
Since it tilted on the next building and cracks developed on it, residents were evacuated and it was sealed at the UNO’s directives, he added.
Mayor Gani said the building owners failed to show building plan claiming that the approval was taken in the 1990s.

Md Alam Miah, assistant engineer of the municipality said, gas and electricity connection have been disconnected since the building was declared risky.
According to the locals said, late Tazul Islam constructed the building in 1997. His family members live there and they rent it out a large portion of the building on commercial purposes.
