Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained six alleged muggers from Jatrabari area in the city on Wednesday evening.
On secret information, a team of RAB-10 conducted a drive at about 6:00 pm and arrested the ‘snatchers’.
The arrestees are Abu Sayeed, 25, Sohel, 19, Sumon Sheikh, 28, Zakir Hossain, 38, Shamim, 19, and Md Sumon, 23.
The elite force also recovered five knives, 10 blades and one mobile phone from their possession.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees revealed that they had long been involved in snatching in Jatrabari, Sayedabad, Doyagonj and adjacent areas.
