The District Intelligence Police raided separate places in Noakhali's Sadar and Begumganj upazilas and arrested 6 fraudsters. The arrested have stolen and embezzled about 1 crore 5 lakh taka from several persons by pretending to be ‘Djin er Badshah’. Meanwhile, 10 mobile sims, 1 magnet and 10 metal coins of different companies were seized from them.
From Wednesday night to Thursday morning, they were detained by conducting raids at separate places.
The arrested persons are Abdul Momin (61) son of Abdul Halim of Laxminarayanpur area of Noakhali municipality, Imam Uddin Russell (35) son of Nurul Islam of the same area, Azizul Haque (41) son of Morshed Alam of Dakshin Sharifpur village of Begumganj upazila, Nazrul Islam (26) son of Ali Karim. ), Noor Nabi Manik (47) son of Fazlul Haque of Hajipur area of Choumuhani town and Noor Hossain (50) son of Abdur Rab of Basantbagh village of Gopalpur union.
According to the police, the arrested fraudsters had been deceiving people since 2018 by pretending to be the King of Jinn. Sometimes by making people greedy, sometimes by showing fear, they have been embezzling money from common people through their collusion. In the meantime, Abdul Momin, the head of that group, along with his associates, stole a total of 1 crore 5 lakh rupees from 3 persons and shared it with them through development and cash. They were arrested after receiving a complaint from the victims. During preliminary interrogation, they admitted to stealing the money. A case of fraud will be registered against the accused.
Officer-in-Charge of District Intelligence Police (OC) Md. Saiful Islam said that during the questioning of the accused, they admitted that the original magnet used in the fraud is with Ripon, another fraudster who is on the run. The operation is ongoing to arrest other members of this gang.
