The Rajshahi Institute of Health Technology (IHT) has taken decisive action by expelling six Chhatra League members, including the branch president, on charges of seat trading and assaulting a student.

The disciplinary measures were announced through an official notice on Thursday afternoon, effectively halting their academic activities and barring them from campus and hostel premises.

Dr. Farhana Haque, the principal of IHT, confirmed the disciplinary actions, detailing the penalties imposed on the expelled members. Al Amin Hossain, the BCL president, has been expelled for one year, while the remaining five members have received six-month suspensions. Additionally, another student has been reprimanded for his involvement, with a warning against future misconduct. The incident arose from allegations that President Al Amin Hossain accepted money from Hasan, a first-year pharmacy student, promising a hostel seat but failing to deliver. Subsequently, Hasan was assaulted by the president's associates, prompting an investigation and subsequent disciplinary action by the academic council.

Dr. Farhana Haque clarified that the delay in issuing the notice was due to administrative priorities but assured that the disciplinary decisions were based on a thorough investigation conducted by a dedicated committee.

This incident has sparked concern and protests among students regarding the safety and integrity of academic processes at IHT, prompting campus-wide discussions on transparency and accountability.
