A total of 6,500 small and marginal farmers in Nangalkot upazila of Cumilla will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agricultural incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for the cultivation of Ufshi Aush in the current Kharif-1 season.
To increase the interest of farmers in Ufshi Aush cultivation, the amount of incentive support has been increased significantly in the district, Nangalkot Upazila Agriculture Officer Nazrul Islam said.
Nangalkot Upazila Chairman Samsuddin Kalu inaugurated the distribution function and handed over the seed and fertilizers to some farmers as the chief guest on Nangalkot Upazila Parishad premise on Thursday morning.
Municipal Mayor Abdul Malek, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Mehedi Hasan, Upazila Agriculture Officer Nazrul Islam, Nangalkot Press Club President Mojibur Rahman Molla and Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Junaid Hasan, among others, were present.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Nazrul Islam said that each farmer will get five kgs of Ufshi Aush seeds, 10 kgs of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and five kgs of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for cultivating Ufshi Aush on one bigha of land.
Rest of the seed and fertilizers will be distributed very soon, Nazrul Islam added.
