Fifty-nine people have been kept in quarantine on suspicion of Novel coronavirus infection in Jashore. Meanwhile, a team from the World Health Organization and the IEDCR arrived in Jashore on Wednesday.
They met the Civil Surgeon and visited the 250-bed hospital in Jashore and later they attended a meeting with the Deputy Commissioner.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Sheikh Abu Shaheen said that until Wednesday the number of people kept in quarantine in Jashore was 59 and the number of people kept in quarantine is higher in Jashore Sadar and Monirampur upazila.
On March 17, the number of people kept in quarantine in the district was 24. Within the next one day, the number increased to 59 as 35 new people were sent in quarantine.
Supervisor of Jashore 250-bed Hospital Dilip Kumar Roy said that the team members came to the hospital around 9am and visited the hospital’s preparation to fight coronavirus. Later, a meeting took place at the Dc office. At the meeting Dr. Michael S Friedman and Dr. Iqbal Anwar discussed how to prevent and prepare the virus. Dr. Michael S Friedman offered some suggestions too.
The outpatients of the hospital have been directed to stand in a queue by keeping a distance of 1 meter. Meanwhile, Jashore Civil Surgeon launched a campaign and distributed leaflets on Wednesday afternoon at the Daratana and HMM Road. The civil surgeon urged the public to seek advice of an experienced physician by calling 16263 at any time.
UNICEF Khulna Divisional Officer Dr. Md. Nazmul Hossain, Deputy Civil Surgeon Dr. Prativa Ghorai, Dr. Mashhurul Haque and District Senior Education Officer Gias Uddin were present at the time.
