As many as 59 fake examinees were detained for taking part in the exam on behalf of others during the Dakhil examination at a centre in Sapahar Upazila of Naogaon district Tuesday.
They were detained from the Saraftullah Fazil Madrasa examination centre on Tuesday. The Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) ordered their detention and expelled them for taking part in the exam on behalf of others.
After this, widespread criticism began. Locals demanded to take action against the institutions associated with such irregularities.
SSC, Dakhil and equivalent exams started on February 15. In continuation of this, the Dakhil exam is going on at Saraftullah Fazil Madrasa examination centre. There a total of 757 students participated in the Dakhil exam from 40 institutions.
Today (Tuesday) was the third subject exam. Where the Arabic first paper of the Dakhil exam is being held. They were caught on the day of the third subject exam after giving two subject exams for others.
While signing the exam sheet at around 11:00 am, the centre room inspector found that there was no match with the photograph in the admit card with some of the candidates and informed the exam centre secretary.
At one stage, the admission card and other documents of each of them were scrutinised and identified 59 fake examinees from different institutions. Among them were 15 boys and 44 girls.
Later, their exam was suspended and they were kept in a room. A college student has been detained for taking part in the examination. His guardian didn’t know about it. After receiving a call from the centre, the parent came to the centre to release his son.
Finally, everyone was released on bond at around 3:00 pm.
Saraftullah Fazil Madrasa principal and centre secretary Mosaddek Hossain said, “The room inspector of the centre informed me that there was no match between the
candidate photo and the admit card at around 11:00 am.”
“After that I informed the matter to UNO. He came to the spot and detained them after scrutinising the admit cards,” he added.
When asked, Sapahar UNO Masud Hossain said, “Today, the examination of the Arabic first paper of the Dakhil exam started at 10:00 am. After the start of the exam, we received information from a source that fake candidates were giving exams at Sarfatullah Fazil Madrasa examination centre.”
“After receiving the information, the upazila secondary education officer and the centre secretary went to the centre at around 11:30 am and checked till 12:30 pm and found 59 fake candidates” he added.
UNO Masud Hossain said that the expelled candidates were taking part in the exam as genuine candidates registered as Dakhil candidates. Some of them are studying in class 11th or 12th grades after passing Dakhil. Fake candidates have been identified by verifying the signatures and photographs given on the admit cards of the candidats.
The UNO also said that the admit card and other documents of each of the examinees of that centre are being verified. After verifying the necessary documents including photographs, the actual number of fake students will be known.
Action will be taken against the centre secretary and teachers of the concerned institution if there is evidence of involvement in this irregularity, said the UNO.
