Twenty-five lakh secondary school students in six upazilas of Jhenaidah will enjoy the new book festival on the first day of the new year 2024. At least 52 percent of the required books were supplied to the respective upazila secondary education offices recently, while the remaining is likely to be sent within a few days, district education office sources said.
A source related to the office of the district education office in Jhenaidah said that they had sent 2470,762 sets of book for Ebtedayee madrashah students studying in class one to class five, school students of class six to class nine, class six to class nine students for vocational trade, class nine and ten students of SSC vocational and dakhil vocational for the year 2024.
The national text book and curriculum authorities in Dhaka had so far sent 1299,990 sets of the books to the upazila education offices till Thursday last which was 52 percent of the total requirements. They are expecting the remaining books supply within a few days.
When contacted, district education officer Sheikh Manirul Islam said the students of Jhenaidah Sadar, Kaliganj, Kotchandpur, bordering Moheshpur , Shailkupa and Harinakundu will enjoy the new book festival on January 1. It is the determination of the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to ensure books for all students free of cost towards a truly educated “Smart Nation”.
