52 bhori stolen gold recovered, six arrested in Ctg

Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) arrested six alleged thefts in connection with daring theft incidents in the port city.

Police also received 52 bhori gold  and weapons during the dive.  

The arrested  were identified as Md Arif Hossain, Md Sharif, Mehedi Hasan Rubel, Md Saidul Islam Reagan, Md Hannan and Md Riyad Hossain.

After the repeated theft  incidents, police conducted special operation and  arrested  6 members of the gang.

 Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) Deputy Commissioner (South) Md. Mostafizur Rahman disclosed it while  addressing at a press briefing at his office in the port  city on Saturday.

The police officer said the theft incident took place at a house of SR Bhavan in Ameer Bagh residential area of Chawkbazar  on February 2.  Later, a case was filed at Chawkbazar police station.  

After arresting six people in a different theft cases at Sadarghat police station on Friday, police unearthed other members of the gang.

 Two arrested thefts gave a confessional statement in the court under.

Locally made pipe gun, four sharp weapons , two lock cutters and a range were recovered from them.

The buyer of the stolen goods was also arrested.  One person was also arrested from Cox's Bazar.

 CMP Additional Commissioner Noble Chakma, Assistant Commissioner Atanu Chakraborty, Sadarghat Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ferdous Jahan and others were present at the press conference.
