51st death anniversary of Bir Shrestha Sepoy Hamidur Rahman was observed in Jhenaidah with due respect. Bangladesh Sammilito Muktidhdha Foundation, a concern of Jatiya Mutijoddha Council (Jamuka) and Bangladesh Ex Army Welfare Association (BESWA) Shailkupa upazila unit in Jhenaidah jointly organized the programme. They arranged rally, discussion meeting and doa mahfiul marking the mourning day.
Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad Jhenaidah district unit command council ex commander Meher Ali presided over the discussion at Shailkupa Muktijoddha Technical school and college ground, while eminent freedom fighter, lawmaker of Jhenaidah 1 seat and ruling Awami League district unit president Abdul Hyee virtually attended as chief guest.
Shailkupa upazila parishad chairman, also Awami League district unit organizing secretary M Hakim Ahmed, vice chairman Jahidunnabi Kalu, Shailkupa municipality mayor Kazi Ashraful Azam, ex commander of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad Shailkupa upazila unit command council Rahmat Ali Mantu and veteran freedom fighter Kamaluzzaman Kamal were present as special guests.
Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangshad Jhenaidah district unit command council ex commander Golam Mostafa Loton, Jhenaidah district council member Mukter Ahmed Mridha and chief patron Lutfar Rahman Tulu among others spoke.
The speakers said although the country was liberated upon after the devotion of Bir Shrestha Sepoy Hamidur Rahman and others after a nine month battle against the occupied Pakistani forces in 197.
But the conspirators have been plotting to make the country a colonial reign once again. They had convey their gratitude to the Indian government and its then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for their contribution in the freedom fighting by providing shelter and food for about one crore people and ensure training and firearms for the freedom fighters during the nine month battle.
They had urged upon the people, especially the freedom fighters and freedom loving people to strengthen their mentality to fulfill the dream of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman when his success daughter prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina has been ruling the country towards a developed one within a few years.
