A private development agency named Faridpur Development Agency (FDA) distributed quilts among 500 poor families of the river erosion prone Char areas of Padma River under Faridpur Sadar Upazila on Wednesday morning.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Faridpur Md. Aslam Mollah handed over the quilts to the cold-hit families as the chief guest, at the agency’s head office in Tepurakandi area in Faridpur town.
FDA's Executive Director Md. Azharul Islam presided over the distribution programme while Decreechar UP Chairman Mehdi Hasan Mintu, Executive Director of Beneficiaries Fellowship Forum ANM Fazlul Hadi Sabbir and others spoke at the time.
The speakers said that the people of the char region suffer a lot due to severe winter. The FDA has done a humanitarian job to reduce their sufferings. They urged everyone to be united in fulfilling his or her responsibilities towards the society at the time.
