The number of seats for admission in this academic year has been increased at Jagannath University (JnU). Compared to previous years, this time there is an increase of 50 seats in each department. With this increase, the total number of seats has reached 2,815.
The Registrar of the university, Prof Dr Aynul Islam, confirmed it. The Registrar said previously it was 2,765 seats but now the total number has reached 2,815.
Among them, the Computer Science and Engineering Department gained 10 seats, the Pharmacy Department gained 10 seats, the Department of Microbiology gained 5 seats, the Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department gained 10 seats, and the Department of Theatre decreased by 5 seats, despite an overall increase of 55 seats.
According to sources, the total number of seats in the faculties of Science and Life and Earth Sciences is 860, in the faculties of arts, social science, and two institutes, it is 1,270, in the business faculty, it is 520 and 165 students will have the opportunity to be admitted to six specialized departments.
The journey of the Fine Arts Department began on January 14 this year. Before this, on February 6 of last year, the University Grants Commission approved three departments named the Department of Drawing and Painting, Department of Printmaking and Department of Sculpture. The Fine Arts Department was transformed into a faculty, divided into these three departments.
