At least five young men were stabbed and injured by an attack of a criminal gang as well as drug peddlers at Baroibhog area under Fatulla police station in the district on Thursday night.
Two critically injured youths Ridoy 25, and Bulu 26 were admitted to Dhaka medical college hospital.
Different sources said that Rana, Sabbir, Ferdous Zahid and some associates of the kishore (adolescent) criminal gang have been running drug trading in the Baroibhog area. None of the locals dare to say anything against them as they always carry sharp weapons.
On Thursday night when the criminal gang was engaged in selling narcotics, some local young man headed by Ridoy and Bulu tried to resist them and then ensued a clash between two groups.
Drug peddler’s gang attacked the protestors with sharp weapons and stabbed and injured at least five young men.
Officer in Charge of Fatulla model police station Md. Aslam Hossain said that after getting information, he deployed extra police forces on the spot to avert the further awkward incident.
