A Dhaka court on Sunday placed five accused on five-day remand each in a case filled over the murders of Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu and college girl Samia Afran Preeti at North Shahjahanpur area on March 24.
Five accused-- Mohammad Omar Faruque, Nasir Uddin alias killer Nasir, Saleh Shikder alias shooter Saleh, Morshedul Alam alias Kailla Palash and Arfan Ullah Daman - were produced before the court on Sunday.
Investigation Officer (IO) of the case police inspector Mohammad Yasin Sikder submitted an appeal to the court to place each of them on 10-day remand in the murder case.
After hearing both the sides, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Noor passed the five-day remand order.
Earlier, police produced another accused Md Masum alias Akash before Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate on Monday. The IO submitted an appeal to the court to place him on a 15-day remand.
After holding hearing on the case, Dhaka's Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzel Hossain passed the seven-day remand order.
On March 26, members of Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested Masum from Bogura.
