At least 5 people were killed and four more injured in Joypurhat, Brahmanbaria and Narsingdi road accidents within last 36 hours till Thursday evening.
Joypurhat Correspondent says: A woman was killed and another injured in a road accident in Battali area under Khetlal upazila of the district on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Reshma Khatun, 38, daughter of Amjad Hossain, resident of Notun Hat Dewan Para of Joypurhat Municipal area. She was an office assistant of Khetlal Land Office.
The accident occurred when they were going to Khetlal Land Office on a motorcycle collided head-on with a CNG-run autorickshaw coming from the opposite direction in the area around 9:30am, leaving them seriously injured, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khetlal Police Station Anwar Hossain said.
BSS from Brahmanbaria says: Two people were killed and another was injured when a tractor overturned on the Nabinagar-Radhika road in Borohit area under Nabinagar upazila of the district day on Thursday.
The deceased were identified as tractor driver Md Enamul, 26, son of Md Shahjahan, resident of Ruti village of Dharkhar union under Akhaura upazila and helper of the tractor Amir Hosain, 14, son of Bazlu Miah, resident of Brahmanhata village of Kaitla (North) union under Nabinagar upazila. The accident occurred in the area when a Shivpur-bound sand-laden tractor overturned and fell into a roadside ditch as its driver lost control over the steering in the morning, leaving the driver and helper of the tractor dead on the spot and another injured.
Narsingdi Correspondent adds: Two people died and two others were injured after a microbus collided with a stone-laned truck on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Shibpur upazila of Narsingdi on Thursday morning.
The deceased were identified as Shah Alam, 50, of Natai village of Sadar upazila of Brahmanbaria, and his brother-in-law, Selim Mia, of the same upazila. Arifur Rahman, sub-inspector of Itakhola Highway Police Station, confirmed the matter.
According to family sources, Shah Alam arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from Italy in the early hours of Thursday after receiving the news of his mother's death.
Later, four people, including Shah Alam Selim Mia and his nephew, left the airport for Brahmanbaria on the microbus around 9:30 am and met with the incident on the way. Shah Alam died on the spot, and Selim Mia died after being taken to Narsingdi District Hospital. The driver of the microbus and another passenger are undergoing treatment at Narsingdi District Hospital, said the SI.
