Two meritorious students of the Department of Fisheries of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “Professor Mohammed Shafi Trust Fund scholarship” for securing the highest CGPA in BS Honors and MS examinations respectively. Three other brilliant students of the department have received ‘Amena-Latif Memorial Trust Fund Scholarship’ for their outstanding academic results. DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman distributed scholarships and certificates among the students as chief guest on Sunday at the VC’s lounge of the university.
Chairman of the Department of Fisheries Professor Dr Md Golum Rabbane presided over the function while Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Professor Dr M Imdadul Hoque addressed it as special guest. Some other teachers of the department were present on this occasion.
Professor Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman called upon the students to become the best human being after equipping themselves with moral values. He thanked Professor Mohammed Shafi, the donor of this trust fund for his outstanding contribution to develop fisheries education and research in the country.
The recipients of Professor Mohammed Shafi Trust Fund scholarship are: Md Mostovee Inan Eshiq (MS) and Shawon Ahmed (BS). The recipients of Amena- Latif Memorial Trust Fund Scholarship are: Nilufa Yasmin, Md Shafiuzzaman and Rokeya Akter.
