Naval police have seized 4,000 kg of Jatka from Haldia of Munshiganj's Louhjong upazila along with a pickup truck written emergency newspaper on it on Saturday morning.
The Jatkas were seized in an operation of the naval police. Sirajul Kabir, In-Charge of Mawa Naval Police, said the Jatkas were loaded into the pickup to transport them to Dhaka for sale from the local Shamu's house.
When the pickup reached Haldia Bazar in Louhjong Upazila, the naval police chased the pickup. Sensing the presence of the naval police, the criminals left the pickup and fled.
The pickup is currently in the custody of the naval police. Later, the seized Jatkas were distributed among local poor people as well as in local Madrassas and orphanages in the presence of the Upazila Fisheries Officer.
