At least two people were killed and three others were injured in a collision between a covered van and a truck on Pabna-Dhaka highway at Madhupur under Ataikula upazila in Pabna on Friday. The deceased were identified as Abdul Hamid, 40, and Babu Hossain, 50 of the upazila. Sargent Aminul Islam, in-charge of Pabna highway police camp, confirmed the matter.
The accident took place at about 5:30 am when the Hajirhat-bound truck hit the covered van, leaving Abdul Hamid dead on the spot and four others injured. The injured were taken to Pabna General Hospital where the doctors declared Babu dead
Meanwhile, two other people were killed after a bus rammed into a motorcycle on Pabna-Rajshahi highway at Ishwardi upazila of Pabna on Thursday night.
The deceased were identified as Bachhu Mondol, 40, and Bulbul Sheikh, 35, of Goalbathan village at the upazila. Bahauddin Faruki, OC of Ishwardi Police Station, said the bus hit the motorcycle coming from opposite direction at Muladuli point of the highway at about 7:30pm, leaving the motorcyclist and his passenger dead on the spot. Police seized the bus, but its driver and helper managed to flee the scene.
