Four drug peddlers were arrested along with 460 bottles of Phensedyl at Akubpur Police check post on Meherpur-Kushtia road in Gangni Upazila of Meherpur district on Friday. The arrestees are identified as truck driver Rajib Sardar, of Bagha Upazila of Rajshahi, Tipu, of Karamdi Village of Gangni Upazila, Swapan and Abed of the same upazila.
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Gangni Police Station Obaidur Rahman said acting on a tip off, a team of police chased a truck Akubpur Police Check Post and nabbed the drug peddlers along with 460 bottles of phensedyl. Police also seized the truck. The drug traffickers were moving towards Kushtia smuggling the phesedyl from the border area, the OC said. A case was filed against them with Meherpur Court.
