The ‘Bangabandhu and Swadhinota Boi Mela’ begins across the country from December 30 for four days.
The National Implementation Committee for Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's 100th Anniversary Celebration is organizing the 4-day book fair with the Cultural Affairs Ministry and local government divisions.
State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid made this announcement at a press briefing in the Public Library directorate in the capital on Tuesday.
The state minister said this fair will be held on the premises of the public libraries in Dhaka and other divisional headquarters as well as public library premises at district level across the country.
Around 70 publishing houses of Dhaka, 50 from divisional level and 30 at district level will participate in the book fair.
In this regard, the Cultural Affairs Ministry has allotted Tk3 lakh for each district.
KM Khalid also sought the cooperation of the local district administration for the proper implementation of this book fair across the country.
He expressed hope that the fair will play a helpful role in building an enlightened culture in Bangladesh by informing the new generation about the history of the nation.
Meanwhile, Dr Kamal Abdul Naser Chowdhury, the chief coordinator of the national implementation committee, said thousands of books on Bangabandhu have been published marking the birth centenary of Bangabandhu.
“This book fair will play an important role in spreading the message of Bangabandhu's creativity all over the nation, especially among the new generation,” he added.
