A four-day long income tax fair was inaugurated in Jhenidah.
MP from Jhenidah-1 constituency and president of Jheniidah district unit Awami League,Abdul Hyee inaugurated fair as chief guest at a local community centre releasing balloons and pigeons in the sky.
Office of the deputy commissioner of taxes in circle 19 organized the programme with a view to implementing the Rupkalpa through own initiatives in paying taxes.
The organizers said they had been providing information to the people including tax payers on submission of income tax returns, TIN registration, issuance of certificates among new tax payers, deposit at bank boots, supply of relevant forms ad documents to ease the sufferings.
The tax fair will continue until November 18 between 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM, they said.
Superintendent of police Hasanuzzaman, chairman of Jhenidah district council Kanak Kanti Das among others spoke as special guests. Officials of department remain present.
The speakers said the people of all walks of life are not enough about paying the taxes which is their duty and responsibility. As a result, huge people could not come under the tax net yet.
Awareness activities as well as inaction of law should be ensured to increase the revenue, main wheels in the financial sector.
