When the deadly novel corona virus was spreading, people of four areas of Shailkupa municipality have been declared their areas self lockdown to save themselves from the wrath of the attack since Tuesday morning. The number of locked down village or area rose to seeeven in the upazila till Wednesday.
The villages were self locked down tp prevent the attack of corona virus. The locked down areas are Shailkupa Madhyapara, Kabirpur Natun Bridge, Jame Masjidpara, City Collegepara and Abashan Prokalpa area.
Members of Shailkupa Poura Juba Samaj, a voluntary platform by the local youths had arranged the self lock down since Tuesday morning. Shailkupa municipality mayor has been rendering all our cooperation with the initiatives of the youths, said the organizers. The people of those area were also advised not to leave the villages without reasonable purposes.
Shailkupa Poura area Juba Samaj members said they put barricade on the road putting bamboo or wooden logs to discourage the outside in to the areas. If someone from any outside village enters in to the said three villages, they spray antiseptic body lotion to destroy germs. They are provided soaps and masks for their safety with organization’s own cost.
Admiring the self lockdown in three villages by the society Shailkupa municipality mayor Kazi Ashraful Azam when contacted said, he had already stood by the society members as they have set up an example without any assistance from the government. It might help prevent the deadly disease in the locality, he said.
Shailkupa upazila nirbahi officer when contacted said the initiative was a god one to help reduce the fatal infection of the deadly corona virus in the area.
