The ongoing eviction drive on the both banks of the River Mayur, the economic life line of Khulna, continued for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday.
The district administration is conducting the drive in collaboration with
different stakeholders, including Khulna City Corporation (KCC), Khulna Development Authority (KDA), Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and Khulna Metropolitan Police (KMP).
Executive magistrates Md Imran Hossain and Khan Masum Billah are leading the drive beginning on September 1, said Estate Officer of KCC Nuruzzaman Talukder.
During the drives, eight illegal structures in Sabujbag area were freed
On Wednesday while 28 structures at Kashemnagar, Gallyamari and Buro Moulavir Darga area on the banks of the River Mayur have been freed from illegal occupation in the last three days.
The drives also recovered nearly one acre of land bulldozing 36 illegal structures, he said. Talking to BSS, Khulna Deputy commissioner Md Helal Hossain said drives will be continued until pulling down of 382 illegal structures situated on the banks of River Mayur, Bhairab, Rupsha and 26 city canals.
