A total of 36,000 teachers of public and private educational institutions across the country have received appointment letters digitally.
Their appointment letters were handed over at a function at the International Mother Language Institute in the capital on Monday.
Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni handed over the appointment letters to the teachers as the chief guest, joining the programme virtually.
Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, Secretary of Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education Abu Bakkar Siddique and Secretary of Madrasa and Technical Department Aminul Islam Khan were present as special guests on the occasion.
Speaking as the chief guest, the Education Minister said that a big step towards quality education is to appoint teachers transparently.
“This time we have been able to recruit teachers in public and private schools in a completely transparent manner. At one time the educational institutions used to appoint teachers as per their wish. Different kinds of complaints used to be raised about the procedure later. We have got out of that situation,” she said.
Dipu Moni said that although 2,155 people were recommended for recruitment from PSC two years ago, 2,065 teachers are being given appointment letters after receiving police verification reports.
“Appointment letters are being handed over to 34,073 people of private educational institutions. Most of the teacher vacancies across the country will be filled through this appointment. A new recruitment notice will be issued to fill the remaining vacancies,” she added.
She further said, “The teachers recruited through NTRCA are being recruited on a conditional basis as the police verification work has not been completed yet. They will not be eliminated unless the government report finds evidence of any serious allegations against them. Those who have been deprived of employment due to various complications will be given vacant posts in other educational institutions.”
Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury said that although all the other activities were in crisis due to the pandemic, the teacher recruitment procedure was active.
“Due to that reason, it has become possible to recruit 36,000 teachers in public and private institutions across the country. 34,000 teachers are being recruited in private institutions after overcoming many ups and downs including legal hurdles,” he said.
He called upon all teachers to create that mentality in acquiring skills and qualifications after being appointed.
Education Minister Dipu Moni handed over the appointment letters to five teachers of government secondary schools and five teachers of private schools, virtually.
It has been informed that the rest of the teachers will be able to collect their appointment letters virtually.
