The 31st Annual General Meeting of Bangladesh Computer Samity (BCS) has been held with the aim of working as one of the organizations in building Smart Bangladesh by emphasizing the implementation of warranty policy, giving importance to MRP policy and the initiative to spread the use of 4IR technology nationwide.
In addition to presenting the activities and financial statements of 2022, the Annual General Meeting adopted the action plan for the next year that held at the Marriott Convention Center in the capital on Monday.
BCS President Engineer Subrata Sarkar presided over the AGM while Executive Committee Member Vice President Md. Rashed Ali Bhuiyan, General members of the organization including, Secretary General Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan, Treasurer Nazrul Islam Helali, Director Mohammad Zahirul Islam, Muhammad Monirul Islam and Mosharraf Hossain Sumon were present.
BCS President presented the minutes of the 30th Annual General Meeting as per agenda. The present members approved the minutes by voting. With the consent of the President, General Secretary Kamruzzaman Bhuiyan presented the 2022 activity report and Treasurer Nazrul Islam Helali presented the audited financial report of 2021-22 financial Year.
The members present in the meeting gave their opinion on the activities of 2022, the audited financial report and the budget of the association for the next financial year. In the light of detailed discussions and opinions in the meeting, the activities of 2022, the audited financial report and the budget of the association for the next financial year were approved.
BCS President Engr. Subrata Sarkar said, “BCS is a member-friendly organization as always. ICT businessmen are going through a tough time these days with unstable conditions in technology business, rising dollar value, banks’ obligation to process LCs. We have been advising the government, National Board of Revenue and policy makers in several meetings to address this situation. Besides, we have given special importance on Robotics, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IOT) and Blockchain training in the future plans of the association under the guidance of Prime Minister’s ICT Adviser Sajeeb Wazed Joy to build a Smart Bangladesh announced by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. If necessary, the members of the association will be trained by bringing experienced trainers from abroad.”
He also said that we have already handed over the warranty policy to the Director General of the National Consumer Rights Directorate. Activities are also ongoing with MRP policy. The current membership of the organization which started in 1987 has exceeded 2500. We are working to include all the IT businessmen of the country in this organization. Our two new branches have started at Tangail and Rangpur.
At present, we are the only and largest organization in the country to bring technology industry to people's doorstep with 10 branches. BCS activities will continue to bring innovation to business by introducing BCS members to the latest technology. An effective committee is formed to provide maximum opportunities to the members, he concluded.
