A total of 31 bodies were recovered on Tuesday and Wednesday in connection with the incident where two boats carrying Rohingya people capsized in the sea after being hit by wave.
Among them, 14 bodies were recovered on Tuesday and 18 bodies were recovered on Wednesday.
There were bodies of 13 women, 3 men and 15 children that were recovered from Naf River and Teknaf coastal areas.
It was learnt that, the Rohigyas were fleeing from Myanamar due to the ongoing unrest in their country and trying to illegally enter Bangladesh by boat. However, two boats capsized on two separate incidents that were carrying the Rohingyas.
The bodies were recovered from Naf River and sea beach area in Teknaf on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Teknaf, Md Adnar Chowdhury, confirmed the matter.
He said he learned about the recovery of the bodies through the local represectatives and local residents. Measures were taken to bury the bodies in the respective areas of the local representatives.
At first, bodies of two children were recovered from Khurermukh area under Sabrang union in Teknaf upazila around 8:30 pm on Tuesday and body of a man was recovered at the same time from Noakhalipara sea beach. Bodies of two more children were recovered on Wednesday that washed ashore at Baharchoraghat beach of sabrang union. The body count started rising and 31 bodies have been found till now.
Meanwhile, the local representatives said at least several thousand Rohingyas illegally entered the country through Teknaf border in the last three days. They said BGB detained more than two hundreds of them.
