Three hundred farmers in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila received seeds and fertilizer as incentives for farming Maskalai in the Kharif-2 season this year. The agricultural inputs were distributed among the farmers free of cost at the upazila parishad ground on Monday. Upazila agricultural office organized the distribution programme.
It was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Razia Akter Chowdhury. Deputy Director of Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) in Jhenaidah Sasti Chandra Roy attended the programme as the chief guest, while Upazila Agricultural Officer Nur E Nabi and Additional Agricultural Officer Junayed Habib were present as special guests.
A number of farmers expressed their satisfaction after receiving the seeds and fertilizer for Maskalai farming. They said it will reduce their production cost and ensure better yield with quality materials.
DAE sources said, the incentives were given to expand the area of Maskalai farming and its yield in the season. A total of 1.5 tonnes of seeds and 4.5 tonnes of fertilizer were distributed among the farmers this season
