While fleeing from Noakhali's Hatiar Bhasanchar shelter project to Teknaf camp in Cox's Bazar, local people arrested 3 Rohingya including a teenage girl in Mohammadpur of Subarnachar and handed them over to the police.
They were arrested from Mohammadpur Chowrasta area on Monday night. The arrested Rohingyas are Zainal Hossain (24), Zobair (23) and Zohra Khatun (15) of cluster no. 63 of Bhasanchar shelter. Arrangements are being made to send them to Bhasanchar for retrial, said Charjabbar Police Station OC Dev Priya Das.
It is known that sometime on Monday, 7 Rohingyas came out with the help of local fishermen to escape from Bhasanchar in their boat. Later they were dropped at the ghat adjacent to Mohammadpur Union of Subarnachar Upazila.
4 Rohingyas fled before the locals got suspicious when they saw them, while 3 were arrested by the local people.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Charjabbar police station Deb Priya Dash said, arrangements are being made to send them back to Bhasanchar after talking to the higher authorities.
