At least five people, including three members of a family, were killed and another was injured in separate incidents of lightning strikes at Kaliganj and Ashashuni upazilas in Satkhiraon Friday morning.
At Kaliganjupazila, three members of a family died on the spot and another suffered injuries after a thunderbolt struck them while they were sitting on the premises of their house atGaraimahal village at about 11:00am. Azibur Rahman, a sub-inspector of Kaliganj Police Station, confirmed the matter.
The deceased were identified as Al Amin Hossain, 28, and his younger brother Rabiul Islam, 22, sons of AbamGazi of the village, and Al Amin’s wife Sabina Parveen, 25.
Al Amin’s son Aminur Rahman Babu, 8, was critically injured in the thunderbolt strike. He was taken to Kaliganjupazila Health complex.
In a separate incident, another man was killed by a lightning strike atBijoynagar area at the same time while he was returning home.
The deceased was identified asMansur Ali, 48, a resident of Bagmari village under the same upazila,
At Ashashuniupazila, a thunderbolt struck Jewel Hossain, 25, son of KabirSardar,at Budhata village while he was returning home from a fish enclosure around 11:00am, leaving him dead on the spot.
Officer-in-Charge of Assasuni Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdus Salam confirmed the matter.
