3 killed in Naogaon road mishap

Three men were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a truck and a CNG run auto rickshaw near ferry ghat bridge area in Manda Upazila of the district on Monday morning.

The deceased were identified as Rafiqul Islam, 38, Jaynul Abedin, 35, and Ashraful Islam, 29, said Sub-Inspector of Manda Police Station Aminul Haque. According to the family sources, all of them were representatives of Acme Laboratories Ltd.

The injured are Abul Hashem, 38 and Abdul Kuddus, 38 and they are also the employees of the same pharmaceutical company.  

The victims were going to Naogaon to attend an annual function of the company.

A Rajshahi bound speeding truck coming from the opposite direction collided head-on with the CNG run auto-rickshaw around 8am on Monday, killing Rafiqul on the spot, and severely injuring others, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Manda Police Station, Mozaffar Hossain.

Joynal and Ashraful died on the way to Manda Upazila Health Complex and Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, he said. Filling of a case in this regard is underway, the official confirmed.
