At least three persons were killed and 20 others injured in a gas cylinder explosion of a bus when it was receiving CNG at a station at Muktiganj area of Laxmipur municipality area early hours of Monday.
The deceased were identified as Suman Hossain, 30, son of Botu Mia of Charmansar, M Yousuf Mia, 45 and Hridoy Hossain, 23,.sons of Suja Mia of Banchanagar area under Sadar Upazila.
The accident occurred at around 2 am last night and all these three deceased were CNG-run autorickswa drivers who are waiting for receiving gas behind the bus , said filling station manager Al-Amin. Of them, ten critically injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Local people said a Meghna Paribahan passenger bus of Laxmiipur-Ramgati route entered into the Green Life Filling Station at 1.45 am at night and the cylinder of the bus suddenly exploded when it was filling with gas.
As a result, three CNG drivers died on the spot and 20 others injured.
