BGB arrested three persons with 2 kg 127 grams of crystal meth (ice) in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar. Meanwhile, a sampan boat used for transporting drugs was also seized.
Teknaf Battalion (2BGB) captain Lt. Col. Md. said this incident took place at Sabrang Munderdale Ghat of the upazila at 9 am on Tuesday (March 5). The arrested are Md Samachul Alam (40), son of deceased Nagu Mia, son of deceased Hamid Hossain. Son of Syed Alam (24) and Noor Kamal. Akhter Kamal (20).
Lieutenant Colonel Md. Mohiuddin Ahmed said, based on secret information, it is known that a shipment of drugs may come to Bangladesh by sea from Myanmar at Munderdale Ghat.
On that news, the BGB patrol was strengthened and an operation was conducted in the Ghat area at 9 am on Tuesday. A sampan boat chased three smugglers and arrested them when they fled on sensing the presence of the BGB. After searching the boat, 2 kg 127 grams of crystal meth (ice) was recovered from a plastic bag. At the same time the boat was seized.
The official of BGB said that legal measures are under process in this regard.
