RAB-7 arrested three persons and seized huge amount of counterfeit Soybean oil in Chattogram on Tuesday
They were arrested from a storehouse of a market on the east side of Colourpol School under Karnaphuli police station.
The three arrested are Md. Alamgir (36), son of deceased Mohammad Mucha of Jiri Union of Patiya upazila, Saiful Islam Hriday (18), son of Liton of Barisal's Mehendiganj police station and Md. Syeder Md. Shakeel (18), deceased of Oxygen area of Bayezid. At this time, 2 thousand 661 liters of adulterated soybean oil was recovered from them. The estimated value of these recovered oil is 5 lakh taka.
Tapas Karmakar, senior assistant director of RAB-7, said on Wednesday that this cycle collects soybeans from the open market, mixes adulterated unhealthy ingredients in the oil and stores them in a 185 liter big drum in a dirty and unsanitary environment. Later, from that big drum, 5, 2, 1 liter, 900 ml and 500 ml are poured into plastic bottles and stored in storehouse for marketing by labelling fortified soybean oil with logo without BSTI approval on the bottle. After the arrest, the accused have been handed over to the concerned police station.
