The admission dates for Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), Khulna University of Engineering and Technology (KUET), and Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) have been changed. This decision was made because of a teachers' strike against the new pension scheme.
Originally, the fourth phase of admissions was set for July 3 and 4. Now, it will take place on July 14 and 15. The Central Admission Committee made this decision last Thursday. The list of universities and departments according to merit and preference was published earlier on June 6.
Out of 3,110 available seats, 3,045 students have been admitted. There are still 65 seats vacant: 8 in CUET City and Planning Area Division, 34 in RUET City and Planning Area Division, 11 in KUET Leather Engineering Division, and 12 in Urban and Planning Area Division.
Professor Sudip Kumar Pal from CUET's civil engineering department said that the orientation for new students will be held on July 31. Due to the strike starting on July 1, all academic and non-academic activities will be paused. This is why the admission dates were changed.
For the fourth phase, 700 students from the merit list (ranked 5,801 to 6,500) are called for admission. On July 14, students must go to their admission centers from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm with necessary documents. If more students show up than there are seats, a waiting list will be created.
Admissions will happen at CUET, KUET, and RUET centers. The admission process includes certificate verification and health checks. The list of admitted students will be published the next day, and the admission fee of 18,500 taka must be deposited by 3:00 pm. The process will continue until the day before orientation.
