Three people, including a mother and a son, died after falling into a septic tank in Mithpukur upazila of Rangpur district on Thursday. The incident occurred in Dhap Udaypur village under No. 13 Shalti Gopalpur union of the upazila.
The deceased were identified as, Delwara Begum, 56, wife of Badshah Mia, Huda Mia, 35, son of Badsha Mia and Iblul Ali, 35, son of Tobarak Ali, all resident of the same village.
Locals said Delwara Begum fell inside the septic tank and hearing her shouting, her son Huda went to save her and fell inside too. Later Iblul Ali went down to save them. But all of them fell sick.
Fire service rescued their bodies and handed them over to relatives.
