3-day prog on Tagore’s birth anniv ends in Khulna

A three day-long programme began here on Wednesday to mark the 163rd birth anniversary of Bishwakabi Rabindranath Tagore in a befitting manner. 

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Ministry Simin Hossain Rimi, MP, inaugurated the three-day programme and folk fair at Daxindihi Rabindra Complex at Fultala upazila in the district on Wednesday afternoon.

Later, the state minister addressed a discussion meeting styled ‘Sonar Bangla Swapno O Bastobata: Rabindranath Theke Bangabandhu’ as the chief guest.

Ex-pro-vice-chancellor of Rangpur Begum Rokeya University Prof Dr Sharifa Saloa Dena addressed the discussion as the key speaker.

Chaired by Khulna deputy commissioner Khondokar Yasir Arefin, the discussion meeting was addressed by superintendent of police of Khulna Mohammad Sayedur Rahman, ex-commander of Mohanagar Muktijoddha Sangsad. Prof Md Alamgir Kabir addressed as special guests while UNO of Fultala upazila Tasnim Zahan delivered the welcome speech.

State Minister Simin Hossain Rimi said Biswakabi Rabindranath Tagore was the bright star in Bengali literature. The legendary poet reshaped Bengali literature and music as well as arts of the Indian subcontinent with contextual modernism.

“The art of female characterization of Bishwakabi Rabindranath Tagore, the nobel prize winner, is tremendously focused on women's sufferings and rights,” she said.

“His poetic thoughts are profoundly sensitive, fresh and beautiful verse, he has made his poetic thought, expressed in his own English words, which is a part of the literature of the West,” she added.

Meanwhile, Khulna divisional commissioner Md Helal Mahmud Sharif inaugurated another programme at Pithavog in Rupsha upazila in the district today as the chief guest.

Khulna district administration organised the meeting along with poetry recitation and Rabindra fair in front of museum premises. 

Khulna DC Khondokar Yasir Arefin presided over the discussion meeting while Prof Dr Tanveer Dulal of Bangla Discipline of Khulna University addressed as the key speaker.

Ex-commanader of Zila Muktijoddha Sangsad Sarder Mahbubur Rahman, chairmen of no-1 Aichgati union Ashrafuzzaman Babul and no-5 Ghatvog union Molla Waheduzzaman Mizan, among others, addressed the event. UNO of Rupsha upazila Kohinur Zahan delivered the welcome speech.
