Three members of the 16th Armed Police Battalion (APBn) arrested in connection with the murder of retired Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed have been suspended. Major Sinha's colleague Shipra Debnath is awaiting the order of the High Court without filing a case with the Cox's Bazar Sadar-Ramu police station or tribunal.
Mohammad Hemayetul Islam, commander of the 16th Armed Police Battalion (APBn) in Cox's Bazar, said he had suspended the three members arrested in connection with the Major Sinha murder case and informed the concerned higher authorities.
The suspended members of the 16th Armed Police Battalion are Sub-Inspector Shahjahan, Constable Md. Rajib and Constable Md. Abdullah. The three suspended APBN members were on duty at the scene of the shooting death of Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed at the Baharchhara APBN checkpost in Teknaf on the night of July 31.
The three arrested accused were first questioned on August 17 about the incident. Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Moinul Islam, who is investigating the murder case filed by Sinha’s elder sister, has applied to the court for a 10-day remand.
On the other hand, Shipra Debnath, a student of Stamford University, who was involved in the video documentary work of the deceased Major Sinha, filed a case against 150 people, including two police superintendents, under the Digital Security Act on Tuesday night. Go. He later returned from Ramu police station without filing a case.
Shipra Debnath's lawyer Mahbub-ul-Alam Tipu said that when he went to Cox's Bazar Sadar Model Police Station on Tuesday night to file a case under the Information Technology Act, the officer-in-charge of the police station advised him to file a case at Ramu Police Station or Tribunal. According to him, Shipra Debnath's lawyer from Dhaka advised her not to file a case on her way to Ramu police station on Wednesday afternoon.
Lawyer Mahbub-ul-Alam said a lawyer had filed a writ petition in the high court against the two police superintendents in the incident. The lawyer said that a case would be filed later in the light of the order.
Meanwhile, the Rapid Action Battalion, an investigating agency, has continued to interrogate former Teknaf Police Station OC Pradeep Kumar Das, Inspector Liaquat SI Nandadulal, who was arrested and suspended in the Major Sinha murder case.
Retired Army Major Sinha Mohammad Rashed Khan was shot dead by police at Shamlapur check post on Cox's Bazar-Teknaf Marine Drive road around 9pm on July 31.
