3,60,000 yaba pills seized in Teknaf

Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) seized 3,60,000 pieces of yaba pills in a drive from Teknaf in Cox's Bazar on Monday.

A team of Bangladesh Coast Guard seized the big consignment of yaba pills from an engine-run boat on the canal in Teknaf, said a press release.

The boat was seized during the drive but the smugglers managed to flee the scene, it added.

According to the press release, tipped off that a big consignment of yaba pills would be trafficked through the Omar Canal in Teknaf, a group of BCG station operated of the East Zone of the Coast Guard took position in the area on Monday night (August 26). 

At that time, they signaled a suspicious boat to stop in the adjacent jungle area.

But the man on board jumped into the water and quickly fled. Later, the coast guard searched the boat and recovered 360,000 Yaba tablets and seized the boat used for trafficking.

Coast guard filed a case with Teknaf Police Station in this connection. 

On the other hand, BCG detained a youth with 16 pieces yaba pills from Sonybari Bazar area under Kalapara Police Station on the same day.

Later, detainee was handed over to Kalapara Police Station.
