3,500 Jhenaidah farmers get incentives for T-Aus farming

DC urged farmers to produce health-friendly foodgrains

A total of 3,500 small and marginal farmers in Jhenaidah sadar upazila have received incentives for transplanting Aus (T-Aus) farming in Kharip 2024-25 season free of cost. Upazila agriculture office arranged the seed and fertilizer distribution programme to boost production and yield of T Aus and save the production cost. Presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Razia Akter Chowdhury, Deputy Commissioner (DC) SM Rafiqul Islam attended the programme as the chief guest on the local upazila parishad premises on Monday morning. Upazila parishad acting Chairman Rashidul Islam Rasel, Woman Vice Chairman Arati Dutt, Upazila Agriculture Officer Nur E Nabi, Additional Agricultural Officer Junayed Habib and Agriculture Extension Officer Mir Raqibul Islam, among others, were present. Upazila Agriculture office sources said they have been distributing 17.5 tonnes of T-Aus seeds and 70 tonnes of fertilizer 3,500 farmers.  Each farmer is receiving five kilograms of improved seeds, 10 kilograms of dye ammonium phosphate (DAP) and muriate of potash (MoP).

DC SM Rafiqul Islam in his speech as chief guest urged the farmers to utilize the seeds and fertilizers on their selected Aus plots to harvest better yield with the government incentives. 

It will help reduce their production cost and benefit hem financially. He warned that if any farmer makes any irregularities in applying the government incentives like selling or handing over to others, will be brought in books so that the needy farmers could be benefited directly. 

 Mr Islam said the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina always considers the interest of the farmer community through her farmers-friendly activities so that they (farmers) could improve their socio-economic state. He also urged them to produce safe crops for a better and healthy nation.
