3.5 lakh pupils to get measles, rubella vaccine in Jhenaidah

A total of 356,320 children age between nine months and 10 years will be immunized during a six-week measles-rubella campaigns in six upazilas of Jhenaidah, beginning on Saturday. 

District health office has taken all out preparations to make the campaigns a success, Jhenaidah Civil Surgeon Dr Salina Begum told a press briefing at her office on Thursday.

Dr Salina said the previous schedule of measles-rubella campaigns in six upazilas of Jhenaidah like other parts of the country, was shifted following global pandemic corona virus in March last year. 

Measles-rubella vaccine not only saves children from these diseases, but also improve their immunity power, she added. 

She urged upon the people through media activists so that each and everybody manages their children to bring to the campaigns without fail.

Medical officer of the civil surgeon office Dr Prasenjit Biswas Partha, Dr. Sharmin Nahar, senior health educa tion officer Abdur Rahman, expanded programme on immunization (EPI) superintendent Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman, among others, were present at the  press briefing.
