Around 3.5 lakh juvenile girls will be given Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccines aimed at protecting them from being attacked with various diseases, particularly cervical cancer, in Chattagram district.
The girls studying from class five to nine and out of school going age 10 to 14 will be brought under the vaccination campaign free of charge. The vaccination campaign will start on October 24.
Chattagram district civil surgeon Dr Mohammad Jahangir Alam gave this information at a district-level press briefing program at 3.00 pm on Tuesday. On the occasion of the national HPV vaccination campaign 2024, the program was held in the conference room of the district civil surgeon's office.
He said 3 lakh 44 thousand 330 girls studying from class five to nine in 4 thousand 388 educational institutions of 15 upazilas of the district and 7 thousand 518 girls of the out-of-school community, including 7 thousand 518 girls of the out-of-school community, totaling 3 lakh 51 thousand 848 juvenile girls, have been set to receive the HPV vaccine. This vaccine will be given from 8.00 am to 3.30 pm every day for a total of 18 days, excluding Fridays and public holidays.
Dr. F. M Zahidul Islam, SIMO of the World Health Organization, presented the main article through multimedia in the press orientation conducted by MOCS Dr. Mohammad Naushad Khan of the Chattagram District Civil Surgeon Office.
Civil Surgeon Office MODC Dr. Md. Nurul Haider, SMO (Malaria) Dr. Mohammad Abul Kalam, and different levels of employees of the department were present on the program.
