Of the total one crore people who had left Dhaka to celebrate Eid vacation, almost 2 million of them returned to the capital city in the last days.
According to Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar’s quoted information on his facebook the information was came into light.
Mustafa Jabbar said, “Some 632485 mobile SIM users returned to Dhaka on Thursday (May 5) at the end of Eid holiday. And on Friday (May 6) 1397680 people returned. In the last two days, 2029165 SIM users came to Dhaka from different districts of the country”.

However, the minister also said that the number meant for SIM users only. Many of them may have multiple SIMs. Again many families had left Dhaka, whose children or teenagers do not have mobile phones. The largest number of Grameenphone subscribers went outside Dhaka on Eid. Apart from GP, Teletalk had the lowest number of subscribers.
Earlier, a total of 10 million people had left Dhaka to celebrate Eid. Of them, on Sunday before Eid (May 1), a maximum number of 29 lakh SIM users had left Dhaka.
Eid-ul-Fitr was celebrated in the country last Tuesday (May 3). Banks, insurance, government and non-government offices and courts opened on Thursday (May 5) after the Eid holiday.
