A total of 29 universities from Bangladesh have been included in the prestigious QS Asia Rankings for 2025, marking a significant achievement for the country’s higher education sector. The rankings, which assess universities across Asia, have placed Dhaka University (DU), North South University (NSU), and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) at the forefront among Bangladeshi institutions.
Dhaka University has ranked highest among the national universities, securing the 112th position. North South University follows closely at 155th, while BUET takes the 158th spot, making all three institutions part of the top 200 universities in Asia. Other prominent universities in the rankings include Brac University (253), Daffodil International University (280), Jahangirnagar University (292), and Rajshahi University (320), alongside Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (342) and Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (357).
The 2025 QS Asia Rankings evaluated a total of 984 universities from across the continent. Peking University, the University of Hong Kong, and the National University of Singapore took the top three positions, with India and Pakistan also securing several spots in the top 100.
In addition to the QS Asia Rankings, six Bangladeshi universities have also earned recognition in the 2024 QS Sustainability Rankings. Dhaka University, Daffodil International University, North South University, and several others have made strides in environmental and social sustainability, underscoring the growing role of Bangladeshi institutions in global sustainability efforts.
