The government has allocated 258 metric tons of rice for the Hindus in the district ahead of the Durga Puja so that the poor section of the community can celebrate the festival smoothly.
The rice will be distributed at 516 Puja Mandaps in seven upazilas of the district.
District Relief and Disaster Management Office sources said the allocated rice has already been sent to all Upazilas of the district for disbursement to the listed Puja Mandaps.
Manikganj District Puja Udjapan Parishad President Prof. Basudeb Saha said the allocated rice will be disbursed equally at 516 Puja Mandaps in the district. Bangladesh National Puja Udjapan Parishad Member Advocate Osim Kumar Biswas said all necessary preparations for holding the Saradiya Durga Puja nearing completion.
Durga Puja will be celebrated all over the district with great festivity and pleasant atmosphere as local administration has taken all necessary measures to this end.
Advocate Osim Kumar Biswas said the 5-day Saradiya Durga Puja will be celebrated starting on October 9 and will end on October 13 with the immersion of the idol of the Goddess Durga.
