A total of 25000 small and marginal farmers in three upazilas of the district will get seeds and fertilizers free of cost as agriculture incentive under the incentive and rehabilitation programme for cultivating Boro in the Robi season.
To increase the interest of farmers in Boro cultivation, the amount of incentive support has been increased significantly in the financial year 2023-24 in the district, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) Dipok Kumer Roy said.
He said that a total of 15000 farmers to get HYV Boro seeds and fertilizer free of cost.Each farmer to get five kg of High Yielding ufshi Varieties(HYV) Boro seeds, 10 kg of Di-ammonium phosphate (DAP) fertilizer and 10 kg of Muriate of potash (MOP) fertilizer free of cost for cultivating Boro paddy on one bigha of land.
Of the total, 6000 farmers are in Sadar upazila, 4500 farmers are in Lohagora upazila and 4500 farmers are in Kalia upazila.
Besides, 10,000 farmers to get two kg of Hybrid Varieties Boro seeds in the district. Of the total, 3600 farmers are in sadar upazila,2800 farmers are in Lohagora upazila and 3600 farmers are Kalia upazila in the district.
Small and marginal farmers will benefit through the distribution of agricultural incentives of the district,he (DD) said.
