Police have rescued 22 Bangladeshi nationals, including 10 females and two children, during trafficking them to India at Kuliadanga frontier under Satkhira district on Thursday morning. Police also held one trafficker from the same place.
Acting on a tip-off, police of Satkhira Sadar thana rushed to the house of Mokhlesur, a human trafficker, of village Kuliadanga under Bashdaha union early Thursday morning and rescued 22 people from two rooms of the house. 15 of the rescued people belonged to Narail district while the rests are from Rangpur and Brahmanbaria districts.
The rescued persons have been identified as Hira Begum, Rubina Khatun, Sheuli Khatun, Imon Gazi, Mokbul Mollah, Kamruzzaman, Rafiqul Islam, Shimu Mollah, Kayes Sheikh, Zahid Sheikh, Kazal Khatun, Lovely Khatun, Abul Shikder, Sobhan
Mollah and Ratna Sheikh of Narail district, Runa Khatun of Munshiganj, Ismat Ara of Kaunia, Rangpur, Shimu Akhter and Beauty Akhter of Brahmanbaria, Tanvir Islam and two children with them from Dighalia of Khulna distrtict.
Asaduzzaman, Officer-in-charge of Satkhira Sadar police station informed, responding to a tip-off he alongwith the forces rushed to the house of Mokhlesur and rescued 22 people kept there for trafficking to India. Sensing the presence of police, human trafficker Mokles managed to escape but police arrested his wife Nasima from the house.
He further informed, Mokhles and Nasima realised Taka 15,000 to 20,00 from each people by offering them good job in India. There were supposed to traffic to India at any time on Thursday. A case has been filed with local police station in this connection.
