The government has fixed a target to procure a total of 21, 879 metric tonnes of Boro paddy from the farmers in eight upazilas of Jashore this year, food department sources said.
Earlier, the farmers’ applied for the registration to sell their paddy through online apps namely “Krishoker Apps” and the farmers selection was made through online lottery system in cooperation with respective upazila administration.
District Food Controller office sources said, 3,363 tonnes of Boro paddy would be procured from the Sadar upazila, 3,312 tonnes of Boro paddy would be procured from the Sharsha upazila, 2,033 tonnes of Boro paddy would be procured from the Abhaynagar upazila, 2,787 tonnes of Boro paddy would be procured from the Jhikorgacha upazila, 1,673 tonnes of Boro paddy would be procured from the Keshabpur upazila, 2,144 tonnes of Boro paddy would be procured from the Bagherpara upazila, 3,585 tonnes of Boro paddy would be procured from the Monirampur upazila and 2,982 tonnes of Boro paddy would be procured from the Chaugacha upazila during the current Boro season.
Talking to the Bangladesh Post, District Food Controller Md. Abdur Rahman said price of per kg of Boro paddy has also been fixed at TK 27, per maund of Boro paddy has also been fixed at TK 1,080 this year.
