The Jhenaidha district administration has stared conducting mobile courts to prevent coronavirus. Deputy Commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath also came to the markets himself abide the executive magistrates.
According to the office of the deputy commissioner, the courts of 10 mobile court teams had fined Taka one lakh twenty thousand to 20 business establishments in the district on Sunday when they failed to show any price list of essential commodities. Many of them were fined when they were selling the commodities at higher prices without justified reason.
The courts fined Taka 60 thousand to six business shops at Hatfazilpur Bazer, Taka Taka 10 thousand to a business shop at Bhatai Bazer and Taka 10 thousand to 12 business shops at Garaganj Bazer of Shailkupa upazila. The court also fined Taka 33,200 to five business shops at Hatgoplapur Bazer in Jhenidah Sadar. The figure of the fine on the day was Taka 1.2 lakh, sources said.
Deputy Commissioner Saroj Kumar Nath said drive against hoarding and unjustified price hiking will be continued to keep the market stable to ease the sufferings of the people when the unscrupulous businessmen have started hoarding the essential commodities and increased prices taking the advantage of the Novel Coronavirus throughout the country.
