The 46th BCS Preliminary Exam began promptly at 10 am on Friday, ending at noon. However, approximately 20 candidates faced a heart-wrenching setback, missing out on the prestigious exam by just one minute due to unforeseen time constraints.
Candidates were instructed to arrive at their respective centers 30 minutes before the exam's commencement, by 9:30 am. While the majority adhered to this directive, around 20 candidates were denied entry at the Tejgaon School and College Centre in Dhaka for being a mere minute late, as the gates were shut tight.
Expressing their dismay, the affected candidates lamented the lack of prior warning as the main gate was abruptly closed without any notice. Despite their earnest appeals, the gate remained resolutely shut, leaving many in tears.
Despite appeals made to the center's executive magistrate, no intervention was forthcoming. The magistrate, in turn, redirected inquiries to the PSC chairman. One candidate, Asaduzzaman Noor, voiced his frustration, stating that this incident marked his final attempt at the BCS exam. Having traveled from Cox's Bazar for the exam, he arrived precisely at 9:31 am only to find himself barred from entry without warning. When approached for comment, the executive magistrate declined to speak further, advising the matter be addressed to the PSC chairman.
