Two teachers of Pabna University of Science and Technology (Pust) have been included in the list of world's top 2% science researchers. They are Mathematics Professor Dr Harun-Or-Roshid and Associate Professor Dr Md Nur Alam.

Stanford University and Elsevier released the list jointly on Wednesday.

The comprehensive evaluation considered various factors, including scientists' publications, H-index, citations, and other essential indicators.

Dr Harun earned his graduate and post-graduate degrees from Rajshahi University's Department of Mathematics and obtained his PhD in 2014 from the same institution. He has published two books and more than 100 articles.

Dr Md Nur Alam completed his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Rajshahi University's Department of Mathematics and achieved his PhD degree from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2020.

Like his colleague, he has authored over 100 articles and two books. Last year, Dr Nur stood out as the sole representative from Pust in the global list of top 2% researchers.

Expressing his delight, Dr Harun said: “Being recognized among the world's top 2% scientists published by Stanford University and Elsevier is a rare accomplishment. It brings immense pride not only to our university but also to Bangladesh as a whole.”

Dr Nur Alam shared his thoughts, saying: “Pust, despite being a relatively new campus with limited research facilities, takes great joy in having its faculty members listed among the world's top scientists. This achievement is not mine alone; it belongs to the entire university community.

The university administration's efforts to enhance the research sector, including increased funding and research awards, have significantly boosted the enthusiasm of both teachers and students in research activities. This, I believe, will drive Pust's research endeavours in the future.”

Pust's Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hafiza Khatun extended her heartfelt congratulations to both professors for their outstanding achievements, marking a momentous occasion for the university.
